Motivated to tutor during final exams by bonding with your Tutor!
Meet Quinte, high school student in 6 vwo. From September to May, she took tutoring from Ruby for physics and chemistry. She has since finished her final exams. What did her tutoring look like? And how did she experience it? In this blog we look back together.
Who are you and what do you do in daily life?
I am Quinte Bruijns and in my daily life I am at Bernard Lievegoed College.
Why did you seek help? What was your goal of counseling at Studied?
I scored a lot of failing grades. The most important subjects were physics and chemistry, so I took tutoring for these subjects. My goal at Studied was to broaden my knowledge and turn the failing grades into passing grades. I wanted to pass the year so that I could go on to my advanced studies.
What was the approach to your counseling? Did it help you achieve your goal?
The approach consisted of tutoring where we tackled the material and also addressed questions. With this, I definitely made progress! With the combination of tutoring and hard work, I reached my goal and saw improvement in my grades.
In what ways did you experience counseling as personal?
Based on what I needed, the lessons were adjusted. Moreover, I had a good relationship with the tutoring teacher, which also helped a lot. I felt this bond through the relaxed atmosphere and the casual conversations we had during the tutoring sessions. That made the tutoring more personal. The personal part of tutoring motivates you to do something before class.
What lesson or event has stayed with you the most from the coaching?
I don't have a specific lesson, but what I always liked were the personal talks at the beginning of class.
If you have taken one or more online classes: why did you choose to have the class or classes take place online? And did this work for you?
The online classes worked for me to discuss theory. The theory lessons work online because here you don't necessarily need personal contact and don't have to point to anything, for example. With assignments, this becomes awkward. I only chose online classes when discussing assignments when it really wasn't possible to meet in real-life.
How important is the click with your tutoring teacher to you?
I think the click is very important because it makes you more motivated to go to the tutoring session.
Do you find your supervision compatible with other pursuits?
Yes, I find tutoring adaptable to other pursuits. The tutoring and tutoring are adapted to our schedules.
What are your plans for after your counseling with Studied (school year, study, work, other)?
I'm going to start midwifery next year.
What will you take away from your guidance at Studied in the remainder of your career?
I take a certain way of learning and understanding questions. By this I mean the way of learning and understanding questions where you better unravel the question and make the steps out of the story.
Would you recommend Studied and why?
Yes. I would recommend it because it's personal!
